I was lucky enough to meet Peter Stampfel about 10 years ago when visiting NYC. A gracious host. He gave me a tour of DAW's offices and introduced me to his wife and their assistant. And it's true: that little office is piled to the ceiling with manuscripts! May they endure forever!

It's my understanding Michelle Sagara West has already written "Skirmish" and "War." Why must we wait until 2012, and 2013 for them to be published? If you don't have enough staff, lots of people would like jobs right now. Thanks

Excellent post! Your characters sound awesome, Marlene. :) And I agree--without vibrant, relatable, complicated characters, the story will not take off.

The interview with PETER STAMPFEL was excellent... He covered everything in publishing from A to Z......... and what he said about self-publishing was very interesting... even though I'm not a great believer in self-publishing. I also thought he covered the unsolicited manuscript situation quite well. He seems the right man for the job.....
